Put me in Coach
More and more Young Athletes are arriving to their first year in High School prepared for the Varsity and Sub Varsity Level. The Talent in Brevard County has grown over the past 10 years and alot of that credit goes to the great work ethic of these young men, as well as the dedicated Coaches who train them. From the age of 5-18 years old, kids hear Coaches yelling, “Attention to Detail!!” and “Dont give up!” Sunday through Saturday at Fields all over the County. The dedicated Coaches who have gone on to play High School, College, and Pro ball all find a way to come back and share their knowledge that leads to a better prepared Youth Athlete going into High School.
The Brevard Recruiting Class of 2014 had 31 Athletes earn College Scholarships, 2015 Class had 35, and the 2016 Class had 37 of the Top 50 Athletes earn College Scholarships. The Rise in the area is a combination of many factors with improvement in grades and testing being the greatest factor. Brevard County Schools continue to be ranked among the best in the State and local athletes are taking advantage of the opportunity. Parents have also become aware of the recruiting process and are giving their kids the best opportunity for College Offers.
The new group of players in the Class of 2021 will be something Special. What grabs my attention about this Class is the skill and arm strength of the Quarterbacks. Players like West Melbourne QB DJ Arroyo, Suntree Viera QB Bryce Norton, and Rockledge QB Elias Allen. DJ Arroyo a Duel Threat QB was a 7th grade All American Nominee, Future 4 competitor, and competes Nationally for Indian River Track Club. Arroyo is accurate, has a strong arm, and makes great decisions with the Football.
Bryce Norton a Duel Threat Quarterback was a 6th grade MVP All American and 7th Grade All American. Norton is blessed with great quickness, great ball handling on the Read Option, and throws a great Deep ball. Reminds me a lot of Bishop Gorman QB Tate Martell.
Elias Allen is more of a traditional drop Back QB but still has the speed to elude tacklers and take it to the house. Elias Allen was a 7th and 8th grade All American Nominee and competes Nationally for 321TrackStars Track Club. All three QBs will enter the 9th Grade ready to compete on the Sub Varsity and Varsity Level as Starters. DJ Arroyo will attend a High School in the Treasure Coast area while Bryce Norton will be headed to Viera. Allen could end up at Viera as well but is also considering Cocoa, Rockledge, and Holy Trinity.
Making the Quarterbacks look so good, as they drop back to pass, are the Big Boys upfront. This Class is loaded with Size, Strength, and great Technique. Players to watch for in this class are Merritt Island DL Christopher Reese, Cocoa DL DajaVon White, Treasure Coast OL/TE Keegan Davis, OL Marquez Bargman, OL/DL Billy West, OL Justin Bailey, West Melbourne OL Elijah Lighthill-Barber, Viera OL/DL Jackson Hartfield, and OL Brady Touzet.
This class of Running backs and Wide Receivers will be loaded with playmakers. Middle School All American Viera WR Julius Barfield has great hands and standing 6’2 has great jumping ability to high point the Football. Rockledge RB Dwayne Grant is blessed with size, speed and a hardnosed runner between the tackles that can also get to the edge.
Players that are explosive Athletes in the class are Youth Phenom West Melbourne RB Dae Dae Farmer, Rockledge ATH CJ Johnson, ATH Jacquez Hicks, and Treasure Coast ATH Jay Allen. Other players to watch are Viera WR Caleb Osburn, TE Tyler Cooley, WR Jamari Nelson, WR Zak Sedaros, and Treasure Coast ATH Guildy Charles.
At certain times this past High School season Freshman Varsity Players, Holy Trinity RB LaAnthony Valentine and Palm Bay LB Ladarious Tennison, lead their teams and the County in Rushing and Tackling. This is a testament to the Youth Football Leagues in Brevard County who prepare these Athletes for the High School level. Varsity and Sub Varsity Coaches will continue to benefit from this pipeline as they prepare for more playoffs and State Championship runs.
Brevard County High School Coaches can see some of this talent Nov 12th at Rockledge High School in the Brevard County Youth Football Super Bowl. These Players will also play in the 2nd Annual 321Recruits North vs South All Star Game in January.
