Game Of The Week: #1 Heritage vs #4 Merritt Island @ “The ODOME” Merritt Island

These teams have never met in the Regular Season. We could very well be in for a treat in the first meeting of these two Brevard Powers. Add in the “ODOME” which has the some of the best school spirit and pageantry than any around…….You now have a Playoff type feel in Week 1 of the Season. ARE YOUR READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL??  Merritt Island has the most wins of any team in Brevard, and the 8th All time in Florida for wins in the State Championship Tournament. The Heritage Panthers has been one of the fast rising Schools in Brevard in recent years making it to the Regional Quarter Finals the past two seasons. This game could turn out to be a close one or a blowout. This will be a great test for both teams. Heritage is coming off a tough win against a very talented and highly ranked Vero Beach team.  The Panthers will need to take better care of the Football this week or it will keep Merritt Island in the game. Heritage QB Daeshawn Mills continues to impress and with Mills running and pitching to that Speedy Backfield and Receivers down field…this game could get ugly if the Mustangs cant stop the Run. UPSET ALERT: #2 Cocoa vs #5 Palm Bay @ Florida Tech Stadium

Its been a long time since these teams have faced one another. The Last time these teams met was in 2008. Matt Younger passed for a 125 yards/1TD and Chevelle Buie Rushed for 109 yards/1TD, 103 yards Receiving/1TD onwards to a Cocoa 28-0 Victory. These players are Coach at Cocoa High with Matt Younger with the Offense and Chevelle Buie with the Running Backs. Now a new #4 visits the endzone from time to time, by way of the pass or by running the ball. Cocoa (Jr. QB) Bruce Judson has been one of the top players in the Country and will lead the Nationally Ranked Tigers into Palm Bay hoping to avoid the Upset. After 18 consecutive tournament appearances, and missing the playoffs last season, the Pirates are hungry to stake their claim as one of the most dominate teams in the County once again. The Pirates Defense is stout with (Sr. LB/RB) Twonnie Pollard, (Sr. DB) Rashid “Pookie” Leftridge, and (Jr. ATH) Dez Arthur. The Offense can score at anytime lead by Bruising back (Sr. RB) Brian Lankford-Johnson who could potentially have a breakout Performance. UPSET  WATCH: #3 Viera vs #8 Rockledge @ Viera Stadium

This is a Senior lead team and it will take some leadership for Viera to show up and take care of business in what could potentially be a trap game. If Viera looks past the Raiders thinking about next weeks game in Allen Texas, we could very well see the Upset. The Hawks exploded last week in the Kickoff Classic with (Sr. QB) Hayden Kingston spreading the ball and leading the Offense to a 55- 7 win over Eau Gallie. Things wont come so easy for the Hawks as they face a totally different Rockledge team than some are expecting. Raiders have a fast swarming Defense with some explosive players of their own. (Sr. QB) Jaquez Lyons has some new weapons in (Sr. WR) Letwan Sutton, (Sr. WR) Jonathan Floyd, (So. WR) Jesson Walker, and (So. ATH) Antoine Green.  The Defense lead by (Sr. LB/DE) Orlando Oquendo, and (Sr. LB) Justin Gonzalez will try to keep it close. If they can keep this game within the 20’s Look for a potential Upset.
