#3 Palm Bay vs #5 Merritt Island– Its been a storied History for these two Brevard Powers. One or both of these teams have represented Brevard in the State Tournament for the past 20 years. The winner of this game will end up as 5A District 14 Champion while the loser will have to win next week to be the District runner-up. Merritt Island has won the District Championship 4 consecutive years and outscored Palm Bay 59-12 during that same period. Prior to Mustangs winning streak,the Pirates had a streak of their own winning 3 consecutive games from 2005-2008 outscoring the Mustangs 64-49.

The Pirates are currently on a 6 games winning streak and averaging 44 points. The Offense is a explosive and churning out the yardage. Palm Bay leads the County in rushing and also has the leading rusher in 2016 RB Brian Lankford-Johnson. LJ has rushed for over 1500 yards and 19 TD’s. University of Tennessee Martin has offered the talented RB with many other college programs taking notice. The way Palm Bay is playing it would be hard for me to not pick them in this one, But Merritt Island just seems to have History on their side…….Unfortunately History doesnt win ball games and nothing can stop this Pirate Ship right now.
